Our summary of all reviews

  • 25 /100

    [???label.performance_???]

  • Design

    4.0/5

The design delighted the majority of all reviewers and they predicted it to be at the taste of most users. The notebook’s appearance walks a fine line between function and form.

    • Hinge Stability

       :

      3.5/5

The hinge, connecting the monitor and the laptop body, is tight and flexible, though it leaves room for improvement. The screen might move a little after opening the laptop or when moving around, which can be annoying but not disruptive.

    • Display Resolution

      1366 x 768

This resolution is also called HD-ready. Viewing more than one website on the monitor is almost impossible, as one window takes up almost the whole space. Graphic designers might not be completely satisfied with this resolution, as this latter might be too small. High resolution picture and video editing is plainly impossible. This resolution is a good option for gamers as many graphic cards will be powerful enough to support the native resolution of this display. Watching most movies will be possible without any black bars at the top and bottom of the display.

    • Color Reproduction

       :

      3.2/5

The color spectrum covered by the display is acceptable. Both color saturation and natural appearance of the pictures are good enough for viewing HD movies and gaming. Professional designers however will find that only a higher level of color reproduction will satisfy their needs.

    • Contrast

       :

      2.0/5

The contrast between the darkest color -black- and the brightest color -white- is below average in this computer. This results in having the darkest areas being washed out resembling a dark shade of gray, while the brightest areas appear to be of a light grayish color. Movies can be enjoyed provided that the room is completely darkened. Most office workers will find the readability to be sufficient, while some might be annoyed by the close shades of gray characterizing both the dark text and the bright background. The needs of professional designers will surely not be met with this notebook.

    • Contrast Value

      205.33 :1

    • Brightness

       :

      1.5/5

This level of display brightness is close to ideal for having a long lasting battery. What would however not last for long is the perfect vision you might enjoy now, especially if you persevere in using this laptop in an averagely lid room. You could still find it somehow enjoyable to use your computer in a dark room, but turn the light up, and all you will see is the frame of your screen.

    • Average Brightness

      188.25 cd/m²

    • Reflections

       :

      1.0/5

The reflections on this screen cause its usability to be close to minimal. Users will only be able to comfortably view the display in either dark environment or with the least possible amount of lighting. Outdoor use will prove to be absurd; patience and continuous focus will be required for any actual and efficient use of this laptop under medium lighting conditions.

    • Viewing Angle

       :

      2.7/5

Looking at the screen from the side causes color distortions. Two people watching a movie have to sit close together for both of them to get a good picture. Even when you move in your chair color deviations will be noticeable. On the plus side, this display provides for some privacy in public spaces.

    • Maximum Volume

       :

      4.0/5

The maximum volume of this laptop is pretty loud, allowing you to pretty much hear every sound played from the other end of the room. Watching movies with a group of people will work, but for an optimal experience, it is recommended to use external speakers, or headphones.

    • Sound Clarity

       :

      3.5/5

The clarity of the sound is still ok at this level. While demanding audiophiles will think of it as a disaster, the rest of us will find the sound experience provided by this laptop satisfactory when watching movies or playing games.

    • Layout

       :

      2.0/5

Many users will have a hard time readjusting to the layout of this keyboard. Some of the keys might be placed, shaped or sized differently compared to a conventional keyboard layout, leading to frequent typing mistakes and a decrease in typing speed. Overall users will not be satisfied with this layout, although with persistence it can still be manageable.

    • Keyboard Size

       :

      3.0/5

Although the size of this keyboard is still decent, typos might be a bit more frequent as the keys might not be large enough, depending on the size of your hands. The palm resting area could be too small for some users, although it is generally suitable and comfortable. All in all, the keyboard is proportionate enough and should still fulfill the needs of most users, especially after some getting used to.

    • Key Responsiveness

       :

      4.2/5

This keyboard’s responsiveness provides for quite a satisfying typing experience. Not much pressure is needed for key feedback and key action feels smooth enough to allow the users to enjoy typing for extended periods of time. This keyboard is as well characterized by good key feedback, which allows for an above average typing speed. Most users should be pleased with this keyboard.

    • Keyboard Flex

       :

      4.0/5

This keyboard will prove to be resistant to increasing amounts of pressure, and would only start to bend when significantly pressed. The plastic below the keyboard thus barely flexes, which will only be noticeable when seriously hammering this thing. You can thus expect high levels of speed and comfort when using this computer, even for long typing hours.

  • Front Camera

    4.0/5

The picture quality of the webcam is quite nice.

  • Battery Surfing

    6:08 h

The battery life is quite good. If are going to work outside, you can easily plan to spend up to six hours without your charger. Be it for a client meeting, preparing a paper, or simply answering your emails, lowering the brightness of your screen will greatly contribute to extending the battery life. As long as you do not launch programs which suck a lot of energy out of your battery like watching movies or playing games, you should be able to enjoy your half a day out. Also, make sure to check that the energy saving mode is on to maximise the time away from the power socket.

    • Battery DVD/Video

      4:12 h

The laptop will last for 3 to 4 hours when used for performance demanding applications such as watching movies. Other tasks such as turning the brightness all the way up, playing music in the background, or streaming online videos will stress your battery as well. Playing games will use the battery up even faster, so if you want to use your notebook for some time, you might want to avoid it all together. Buying an additional battery could be quite expensive, but it will allow you to double the time you can stay without a power plug.

  • Weight

    4.39 lbs

This laptop will be considered by most users to be on the heavy side. You might find it best to only move this notebook under exceptional conditions and use it as a desktop replacement. You will definitely notice the heavy weight when putting the notebook on your lap. If you factor the extra weight of the charger, carrying around this computer will tire you, even if your praise yourself to be in good shape.

    • Noise Idle

       :

      4.0/5

Normally you do not notice the noise of the laptop ventilation while idle.

    • Noise Normal Use

       :

      3.0/5

Noise emitted from this laptop will not cause any major inconveniences when doing office work or browsing the Internet. Although it might be be noticeable in a quite room, it should not be obstructing your concentration.

    • Noise Full Load

       :

      1.3/5

Running high performance applications such watching movies, editing videos or gaming will make your laptop roar. Not very pleasant when in a quiet environment, or when trying to be discrete.

       :

      4.0/5

The notebook warms up just a little at normal use.

    • Heat Top: Normal Use

       :

      3.0/5

The laptop gets warm on top but nothing you would complain about.

    • Heat Bottom: Normal Use

       :

      2.0/5

The bottom of the laptop can get a bit warmer. If you don’t want to use it on your lap, it will be okay.

    • Heat Bottom: Full Load

       :

      1.5/5

There are unpleasant hot spots on the laptop.
